(GoPro) Ukrainian Rocket Team Engages Russians in Bakhmut

Footage from an unknown date shows members of the 3rd Assault Brigade attacking Russians with a series of OG-7V RPG rounds. This footage was allegedly recorded in Bakhmut, but it's unclear when exactly it was filmed, so it could be from an earlier part of the Russo-Ukraine war.

First and foremost, we did not add the music to this video. It was added by the Ukrainian Soldier who released the footage initially to Telegram.

The OG-7V fragmentation round is a notable addition to the arsenal of the RPG series of rocket-propelled grenade launchers, and it appears to be what is seen in this video. The rockets are designed to maximize lethality and effectiveness against personnel and light armored vehicles, making the OG-7V a crucial piece of equipment in modern infantry engagements, especially in Ukraine where the RPG is one of the most widely available rocket platforms.

At the heart of the OG-7V's effectiveness is the unique design of the rocket itself. The round features a powerful shaped charge, designed to penetrate armor before detonating. On impact, the shaped charge directs its energy inward, creating a focused jet of super-heated metal that can breach lightly armored targets and some buildings.

What truly sets the OG-7V apart is its secondary fragmentation effect. Once the shaped charge penetrates the target and detonates, it generates a secondary lethal spray of high-velocity fragmentation. This fragmentation is devastating against infantry troops. The combination of light armor-penetration and fragmentation creates a two-fold threat, enabling the OG-7V to engage light vehicles, buildings and infantry units with high efficiency.

In practice, the OG-7V's dual capabilities offer a significant advantage to ground forces. It allows infantry units to engage a wide range of targets using a single munition, reducing the need to switch between different types of RPG rounds in the midst of battle. This not only streamlines combat operations but also increases the flexibility of infantry units who need multi-purpose rockets for diverse purposes.
