A fiery explosion resulted from a Russian strike in Kyiv on Mar. 1, 2022 as the Russian defense minister told civilians to leave the Ukrainian capital in preparation for heavy bombing.

The blast occurred about the same time as Russian munitions targeted a TV broadcast tower in Kyiv. The TV station is being targeted by Russia in order to control information throughout the country. The Ukrainian defense minister confirmed the strike and announced certain TV channels will be down for an undetermined time. Five people were killed, and five more were wounded in the strike.
