On April 2, 2021 Officers of the Rampart Division, Los Angles received reports of an armed suspect firing a handgun in MacArthur Park. The suspect later identified as Michelle Renee Lariccia, was headed toward the center of MacArthur Park, when Officers began communicating with her to drop the firearm.

Multiple Officers arrive on the scene with 40mm non-lethal's and riot shields in an attempt to subdue Lariccia. As the Officers continue to communicate with Lariccia, she begins pointing her firearm at Officers and the Police Helicopter providing aerial support.

Moments later, Lariccia points her fire arm at Officers again and is shot multiple times. After falling to the ground for a few minutes, Lariccia can be seen standing up. Officers continue to tell her to move away from the fire arm.

Lariccia now wounded, begins walking away from the Officers and submerges herself in the lake. Two hours and 40 minutes later, she removes herself from the lake where the Officers finally take Lariccia into custody.
