Dash cam police footage shows an incident that occurred in southwest Wisconsin in which a police officer used his vehicle to ram an extremely intoxicated driver to keep him from hitting oncoming traffic.

From the Iowa County Sheriff's Department press release: On August 13, 2022, at approximately 6:17pm one of our Deputies was returning to Iowa County after assisting the Grant County Sheriff’s Office with a call.

Iowa County Deputy Rick Severson was travelling E/B on USH 18 west of Montfort when a vehicle that was traveling W/B crossed the centerline. Deputy Severson took evasive action to avoid a head-on collision and then turned around to catch up to the vehicle so that he could attempt a traffic stop.

During this time the offending vehicle crossed the centerline several times to include going off onto the opposite shoulder on hillcrests. Near the intersection of Hwy 18 and Stivarius Lane; Deputy Severson initiated vehicle contact with the offending vehicle to bring the vehicle to a stop.

The driver Honorio Martinez, age 28, of Mount Hope, WI was arrested for Operating a Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence of an Intoxicant and also cited for Driving without a Valid Driver’s License and Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Insurance.
