USS Gerald Ford Shock Test Registers As A 3.9 Magnitude Earthquake

The US Navy released footage showing the USS Gerald Ford undergoing a shock test about 100 miles off the coast of Florida on Jun. 18, 2021, and the blast reportedly measured as a 3.9 magnitude earthquake according to a geological survey.

The Navy carried out the Full Ship Shock Trials (FSST) to ensure the battle-worthiness of the ship while using a number of sensors to understand where shock resiliency can be improved. With literally thousands of rooms, decks, berthings, and passageways, the crew had to be thorough and meticulous in their preparation for the blast.
