On February 9, 2023, the United States Air Force and United States Space Force and Global Strike Command conducted an unarmed Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile test.

The footage of this test was very loudly released to the Defense Visual Information Distribution service. indicating that the United States Government wanted the entire world to see these tests occurring.

They were also very careful to add this into the description of the test footage. "This test launch is part of routine and periodic activities intended to demonstrate that the United States' nuclear deterrent is safe, secure, reliable and effective to deter twenty-first century threats and reassure our allies. Such tests have occurred over 300 times before and this test is not the result of current world events."
