Ukrainians Set Out Scarecrows for Russian Air Power

Ukrainian ground troops have found an ingenious way to throw off Russian air power by setting out scarecrows armed with fake MANPAD launchers.

We've seen this tactic employed against snipers a half hundred times. It's a tactic that's almost as old as war itself. You set out a dummy, distract your opponent, and get him to waste resources on your dummy. Then, when the enemy is looking at you scarecrow, you attack hard and fast or maneuver to a safe position.

I wonder if they're using an MRE heater or another heat source to set off the FLIR inside of the Russian aircraft to make the pilots think they're shooting at legitimate troops on the ground, or if they're hoping the pilots will just see this scarecrows as they fly over.
