During a frontline arts and crafts session, a Ukrainian soldier gives a how-to demonstration on creating a DIY directional mine, or as our blogger Cam referred to it: "a field-expedient claymore."

The construction appears relatively simple; an empty ammunition can is packed with gravel backing then covered in a layer of plastic explosives and topped with steel ball bearings. The video ends before we can see what type of detonation system will be used. The device would be effective against exposed infantry troops and soft skinned vehicles, but wouldn't do much against armored vehicles.
