Footage circulating on Russian Telegram channels reportedly shows Ukraine using their newly acquired cluster munitions. These munitions were reportedly fired by 155mm howitzers on the Kreminna front.

As can be seen in the unconfirmed footage, the hype of cluster munitions may have been overrated as it is very similar to the effects of automatic grenade launcher barrages. Although devastating to troops formations in the open, cluster munitions can be easily defeated by barriers, bunkers, and armored vehicles.

The idea of the US cluster munition deliveries was to keep Ukraine armed with munitions while Western defense industries ramp up production of conventional artillery shells, so as not to deplete domestic stockpiles. The increased production of shells will not come to fruition until later this fall.
