Ukrainian Assault Team Takes Russian Prisoner In Chasiv Yar

This footage, provided by an unidentified Ukrainian unit, shows an assault team in Chasiv Yar. They assault a Russian entrenched position and, finding a Russian soldier within, take him prisoner.

This video is basically a self-contained lesson in human psychology. Note how, before the Ukrainians actually make contact with the Russian, it’s “there’s an orc there!” and afterward, the two opposing sides relax almost immediately. “Want a smoke?” Perforce, there’s some setting of the ground rules: don’t do anything stupid, don’t move unnecessarily. But naturally, that’s expected. Humans are capable of atrocities, and there are, doubtless, soldiers on both sides of the Russo-Ukrainian conflict that would have abused or outright killed a prisoner. But this footage is some small reminder that such people are outside the norm, and given the chance to be civil, most people would rather be- even in the most extreme circumstances.
