This footage, provided by the Ukrainian military, shows members of the 126th Territorial Defense Brigade firing a D-30 122-millimeter Howitzer at Russian positions on the opposite bank of the Dnipro River (also referred to as Dneiper), in the Kherson area.

The use of this 122-millimter howitzer represents a significant investment for Ukrainian forces, as there is a unilateral shortage of artillery shells available to Ukraine. However, ammunition is being provided and sold to Ukraine by several countries under the condition of anonymity to help offset the shortfall.

This particular artillery piece was reportedly captured from Russian forces, and then turned against its former owners in a theme which is pervasive throughout the Russo-Ukrainian conflict. The D-30 122mm howitzer was first fielded by the Soviet Union in 1960s, and continues to see use by former Soviet successor states as well as their allies and trade partners all over the globe.
