Tire IED Tossed into Syrian Arab Army Outpost

Rebel fighters utilize a ladder, discarded tires, and homemade explosives to conduct an assault against the Syrian Arab Army at the very beginning of the Syrian Civil War.

This footage was recorded in January of 2012 towards the very beginning of the Syrian Civil War. The location of the recording was al-Bayada, Homs. At this stage in the conflict, it's very likely that the guys in this video didn't even consider themselves as part of the Free Syrian Army. Instead, they most likely saw themselves as a rogue band of freedom fighters attempting to overthrow the Assad regime. They may have been civilians weeks prior to this attack, or they might have been police officers or even Soldiers that defected from the Syrian Arab Army, there's really no way to know for sure.

One thing is definitely for certain. Since this stage of the Syrian Civil War, the situation on the ground has become a lot more muddy. While the Free Syrian Army is no longer conducting ladder enabled IED tossing operations, they're also no longer a simple organization just trying to overthrow the Assad Regime. They're now a multi-layered organization comprised of several different terror groups and legitimate rebel forces who still have the original intent of just removing Assad from power.
