Security footage out of Moscow, Russia, shows a Feb. 7, 2022 incident in which criminals attempting to rob an ATM instead blow themselves up. One of the wannabe crooks died at the scene and the other, who can be seen running away with his leg on fire, remains at large.

Local reports indicate that the bast shattered the front window, destroyed the door, and caused significant damage to the room in which the ATM was located. Additional information stated that the ATM was in the bottom of a five story apartment building.

Apparently the thieves were pumping gas into the machine in order to blow it open, a seemingly common tactic used in ATM robberies. They likely added too much accelerant, resulting in a unintended result.
