The Receiving End of American Counter-Battery

If you've ever wondered what it was like to be on the receiving end of American counter-battery, don't worry, a group of highly intelligent Iraqi Insurgents made a video for you.

Counter-Battery is an offensive form of defense that triangulates the point-of-origin of incoming indirect fire weapon systems. Once the POO site is determined, return fire is conducted by American artillery or mortars, and as evidenced by this video, it can be incredibly accurate and almost immediate. This is because counter-battery systems were put into place during the Global War on Terror that automated the exact formula needed to make accurate return fire with indirect fire weapon systems possible. What you're looking at in this video is the result of that counter-battery system.

For context, this footage was recorded by a group of Iraqi insurgents on the outskirts of Ballad Airbase. In the beginning of the video you can see them setting up their weapon system and firing it off towards the base. While the return fire doesn't hit the position that the insurgents are currently occupying since they pulled back to a position of cover, you can see that the rounds are indeed impacting the exact point-of-origin of where the indirect fire weapon systems were deployed.
