Warren County Deputy Sara Vaught responded to a welfare check request at a residence north of Cincinnati, Ohio, on Feb. 15, 2021, when the occupant, Lance C. Runion, opened the door and attempted to gun her down at extreme close range.

The video shows Vaught's ninja-like reflexes as she ducks under her would-be executioner's shot and draws her own weapon and fires five shots, all in a seamless motion and demonstration of proficient policing and survival instinct.

Vaught's backup officers smartly move in and take the lead from her as they secure the scene. Runion was taken to a hospital to be treated for his injuries where he remains under guard. He has been charged with attempted murder and felonious assault.
