A recent video opinion piece released by WillyOAM, a former Australian infantryman turned independent combat correspondent, breaks down the situation between Israel and Palestine from the perspective of one individual. As Willy films his video, sporadic explosions can be seen occurring in the backdrop.

What I like about WillyOAM is that he's a realist, and he doesn't give a damn about the populist opinion on any one subject. He could easily have made himself a nice cushy six figure YouTube channel during the war in Ukraine, considering he was on the ground when in the invasion started, but instead of doing that he chose to dial in on hard topics and approach them from a position of reality.

This didn't win him any huge favors or awards from the super pro-Ukrainian side of that conflict, but to me, it did earn him a lot of respect because he showcased solid journalistic integrity and did not let his opinions cloud his reporting. Believe it or not, that's a really hard trait to find amongst people who are reporting in combat and on war.

Once again in this video he talks about some hard subjects and the reality of war as well of some of his own fears about the situation. If you've got the time I highly recommend this video and Willy's overall YouTube channel which you can get to by clicking the YouTube icon in the video embed. You might not get information that flows well into your personal echo-chamber from Willy, but he will at least speak the truth from his perspective, and he'll also seek out narratives and perspective that don't align with his own.
