SAPD Officers Eliminate Murder Suspect During Intense Shootout (NSFW)

The San Antonio Police Department released body worn camera and surveillance footage in June from an officer-involved shooting that occurred on April 20th, 2021 in the 400 block of Clutter Road.

During the 9-1-1 call, the caller informed dispatch that the suspect, identified as 35-year-old Brian DeLeon, had shot and killed a man inside a shed located in the backyard of the home and that DeLeon was still in the backyard, armed with a weapon.

The first officer arrived at the scene, where witnesses immediately approached and informed the officer of the fatally shot man in the backyard, along with the gunman. The officer made contact with DeLeon in the backyard and promptly began demanding DeLeon to drop the gun.

Due to the officers concealed position behind the vehicles, the body worn camera's were obstructed, limiting our viewing of the officers perspective.

However, Officers can be heard continuing de-escalation efforts when DeLeon pointed his weapon at the second responding officer, prompting her to fire a single round in his direction. Commands to get DeLeon to put down his firearm continued until there was an exchange of gunfire, which struck DeLeon. While DeLeon was injured, officers reported that he continued to reach for the gun. As such, officers continued to open fire until they felt the threat had stopped, and DeLeon was nuetralized.

DeLeon was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers also discovered the man suffering from a gunshot wound to the head in the shed in the backyard. That man, identified as Bobby Borrego, 49, was also pronounced dead at the scene.
