This drone footage, provided by the “Russian Volunteer Corps”, a unit of Russian citizens that fight against the Putin regime, shows a tank in their possession being used to attack Russian Army targets. This footage has been geo-located to have occurred 500 meters inside Russia’s border, in Belgorod. It purportedly took place on 12 March, 2024.

It’s important to note that while these Russians fight the government in place in Russia, and by necessity, are based in Ukraine, they’re not necessarily pro- Ukraine so much as anti-Putin. . Their relationship with Ukrainian forces is murky- although officials claim they are in no way part of the Ukrainian armed forces, unverified reports suggest that RVC personnel have been drawing pay from the Ukrainian military. They are reportedly a far-right organization, led by avowed Neo-Nazi Denis Kapustin, alias White Rex, who was banned from Germany pursuant to his supremacist ideologies.

The RVC frequently conducts cross-border raids such as the one pictured here. Major raids occurred in the Bryansk and Belgorod Oblasts in Spring of 2023, which is probably part of the motivation for the incursion that is occurring as of writing, March 2024.
