Russian SU-35 Engages With Air-to-Air Missiles

This video allegedly shows a Russian SU-35 engaging a target with air-to-air missiles. The location of the video is entirely unknown, as is the date. It is not however footage from Ukraine.

This video is a prime example of why it's nearly impossible to share the Russian perspective on the ground in Ukraine. Today, this video is all over the internet claiming it's footage of air-to-air combat happening over at over the horizon ranges in Ukraine. Unfortunately, this clip pre-dates the Russia-Ukraine conflict by a few years, so that's entirely wrong.

I don't know the perspective or context to this footage. I just know that it's old. If you see this one circulating, it is indeed footage of a Russian pilot firing several air-to-air missiles at something. What that something is, I don't know. It's not Ukrainian footage though, and when you see anyone else talking about it, it's generally a bunch of DCS fanboys trying to sound smarter than everyone else in the discussion with random fighter jet weapon nomenclatures.

Whatever helps justify the $4,000 flight simulator set-up I guess.
