Russian Mortar Crew Tries To Not Look Like a Football Bat - Fails

Members of a highly trained and professional mortar crew in the Donbas region do everything in their power to look competent behind their mortar tube for the camera. It doesn't work out.

For the record, I'm not a trained mortarman. Even to my untrained eye however, I can tell that these guys are an absolute football bat and probably have about a one hour period of military instruction on how to operate the weapon system they're using.

Full disclosure, I spent eight years of my life living in line company weapons platoons. Some of my best friends from active duty are insanely skilled mortarmen who will drop the m8 baseplate of a 60mm mortar onto a mud-hut wall and fire a round horizontally through a doorway to make an entry happen. You see, while I'm not trained or proficient with mortars myself, I know what right looks like, because it's the only way I've seen a mortar system operated.

These guys, they ain't it chief. This is what happens when you give the 0311's the mortar tubes and a one hour class on how to operate the weapon system. Everything about this mortar team lacks confidence. From the guy dropping rounds to the guy trying to re-bubble the sight, it's all wrong, and way too slow. Hell, I've seen Jihadis blow themselves up with spiked rounds that look more competent than these guys.

I don't know. Let me get a mortarman down in the comments section. One of you guys will surely be able to tell us every little thing these guys aren't doing properly.
