A Russian military cargo plane crashed in Russia's Ivanovo region after an engine caught fire and fell off on Mar. 12, 2024. There were reportedly 15 people aboard, eight crew and seven passengers, when the aircraft fell to the ground. It's likely there were no survivors.

The plane had just taken off from the Ivanovo-Severny airport when the mechanical failure occurred. The pilot attempted to circle back to the airstrip, but never made it. Aftermath photos on social media show heavy plumes of smoke billowing out of a forested area where the plane went down.
