Russian 2S19 Msta-S Self-Propelled Howitzer Destroyed by Counter-Battery

Drone video coming out of Eastern Ukraine shows a successful counter-battery operation against a Russian 2S19 Msta-S Self-Propelled Howitzer that was firing on Ukrainian positions.

One of the simultaneously least interesting and most interesting thing about the war in Ukraine is the constant use of accurate artillery fire. The main cause for momentum on either side of the conflict has been accurate artillery fire, and we have seen nothing like this in almost any of the recent conflicts. This is primarily because in all of the previous conflicts, the war has moved at a lightning pace due to complete air dominance being established by one side or the other almost immediately. In Ukraine, air dominance cannot be established by either side due to the amount of anti-air defense weapon systems that are currently in the battlespace.

As a result, what we have is a war that almost harkens back to the days of the first and second World Wars where the Kings of Battle reigned supreme. Artillery dictates the pace of conflict because neither side can pinpoint enemy positions and destroy them with jets and helicopters. What we're seeing is both the Ukrainians and Russians trying to establish absolute fire superiority over one another on a macro-scale using their artillery as the primary platform to do so.

In this video, you're watching a successful counter-battery operation by Ukrainian forces. While we're seeing these mostly conducted by the Ukrainians who have access to more modern equipment, it goes without saying that the Russians have been just as successful in these operations as well throughout the conflict. The Ukrainians are just posting more of the footage than the Russians are.
