The Russian government carried out a series of strikes inside the Russian Oblast of Belgorod and claim to have pushed back an incursion that seized multiple towns and incited panic and evacuation within the civilian population.

Russia claims the invading forces were Ukrainian militants, however, the Freedom of Russia Legion and Russian Volunteer Corps, the units responsible for the incursion, are comprised solely of Russians.

It's not clear how much of a foothold the pro Ukrainian assaulters still possess inside Russian territory.
