Rocket Attack Disrupts Prayer At Afghanistan Presidential Palace

An insurgent rocket barrage began impacting near the Afghan presidential palace on Jul. 20, 2021 while a televised prayer session was ongoing to commemorate the start of the Islamic Eid al-Adha holiday.

The screaming of the inbound rockets can be heard, and it appears a few of the Afghan officials are more confident in their religious beliefs than others, as some abandon the prayer formation.

Afghan President Ghani blamed the attack on the Taliban, condemning the rapidly advancing opposition group for carrying out the attack on a sacred holiday. However, no group has yet to claim responsibility, and it's possible the rockets were fired by the Islamic State, as they have executed a similar attack on Kabul in the past.
