Tehreek-i-Taliban (TTP), commonly referred to as the Pakistan Taliban, released a video called "Lazer Operation," which primarily shows thermal sniper harassment operations against Pakistani troops on outposts across the western tribal Waziristan tribal region.

The TTP's intent is to overthrow the Pakistan government and replace it with a theocracy based on Sharia Law. For years they have had limited success as US and Pakistan military operations kept them isolated in the Waziristan border tribal regions of Pakistan.

Since the ouster of the US military by the Afghan Taliban, the TTP have been able to operate out of cross-border safe havens in Afghanistan. Additionally, the plethora of abandoned equipment by US and Afghan forces has allowed the TTP to arm themselves with advanced weaponry, like the thermal optics seen in the video.
