Body camera footage released by the Florence County Sheriff's Office, shows a deputy involved-shooting that occurred on January 5th, 2022.

As shown in the body camera footage, the deputy is observed pursuing 27-year-old Abdul Timmons in a high-speed vehicle chase. At the time of this writing, there is limited information regarding the lead up to the deputy involved shooting; however Timmons and the deputy ran into a dead-end road, and a foot chase began. Timmons and the deputy ended up on the Southern Pines mobile home park off Howe Springs Road.

In a desperate attempt to subdue Timmons, the perusing deputy fired a less lethal taser, but it was deemed ineffective. The two continued moving through the mobile home park, where Timmons eventually drew a firearm from his waistband, threatened the deputy, which furthermore forced a deputy involved shooting. The deputy can be observed in the body camera footage firing two shots, striking Timmons, and neutralizing him.

Deputies rendered medical aid to Timmons, but despite these measures, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. This incident is actively being investigated.
