Footage from the 2020 Karabakh War shows a squad of retreating Azeri troops being engaged by Armenian small arms fire, and multiple casualties are inflicted.

According to the source, the Azeri troops were actually part of an offensive assault when the tank they were operating alongside was immobilized by Armenia defenses. The Azeri troops knew they would have no cover to continue their advance over the open ground and would certainly all be killed or wounded.

Instead, they smartly chose to fall back, although the risk of being hit was also great as demonstrated by the two casualties falling on the battlefield.
