(NSFW) Police Shootout in Hospital with Overdose Patient (Audio at 1 min)

(NSFW) On April 12, 2021 Police Officers from the Columbus, OH area responded to an individual unconscious due to a potential drug overdose. The individual was soon identified as 27-year-old Miles Jackson, whom at the beginning of the video can be seen struggling with Officers Krichbaum and Howe.

Reports state that before the hospital encounter, Jackson was found unresponsive from his suspected overdose when paramedics first arrived. Concerned with his physical and mental health, responding Officers and Paramedics suggested Jackson be admitted to the hospital.

After the identification was confirmed for Miles Jackson, Officer’s were informed of Jackson’s active criminal record. He currently had warrants out for the following: assault, drug possession, falsification, resisting arrest, and weapons under disability.

Arriving at the hospital, Officer’s Krichbaum and Howe began searching Jackson respectfully for any dangerous items such as sharp objects or weapons. Officer Krichbaum who started conducting the search, reaches to frisk the front area of Jackson’s pants (0:40), where a firearm is located.

Krichbaum immediately informs his partner Howe, that Jackson has a concealed weapon and immediately tries to place him under arrest. Jackson quickly placing his opposite hand (right arm) now on the firearm (located in his pants), defends himself by stating “You’re grabbing my balls dude”.

Shortly after the struggle begins, Krichbaum draws a taser from its holster and hits Jackson with it. As they struggle to the ground, Jackson now on his right side, discharges his firearm through his pants at Officer Krichbaum.

As the first shot lets off, Howe draws his firearm and fires a single shot at Jackson before receiving a malfunction. Krichbaum now in the hallway, takes primary focus on the suspect as Howe can be seen correcting his malfunction.

Moments later, multiple Officer’s can be heard in the hallway communicating to Jackson stating, “Place your hands on your head”, “Remove your hands from the gun” and “Move your hands where we can see them”. Officers communicate this a dozen times to Jackson, but refuses to comply and stating, “My hands are away from the gun”.

With Officers communicating back and forth with Jackson for five minutes now, a taser can be heard, firing into the room at Jackson. One Officer can then be heard yelling “He’s got the gun!”, as over ten shots are then fired into Jackson.

Jackson was immediately taken to a trauma room after Officer’s removed the firearm from his body. He was worked on for twenty-minutes before surgeons pronounced him dead.

What are your thoughts on this situation? Do you think the Officer’s who first responded had any reasonable suspicion to search Jackson and remove the firearm before proceeding to the hospital? Let us know in the comments below.
