On September 24, 2022, officers from the Phoenix Police Department who were leaving the scene of an unrelated incident attempted to stop a man who was throwing rocks at their vehicles.

The video above is the full critical incident report released by the Phoenix Police Department. It contains body worn camera footage from an officer involved shooting that occurred after officers from the PPD were leaving an unrelated incident. In the body worn camera footage, a suspect named Ali Osman can be seen throwing rocks at the police cruisers while they are driving.

When one of the officers exits the vehicle, a rock is thrown and hits the officer in the shin. The officer attempts to get Osman to surrender, but discharges his service weapon when Osman attempts to throw another rock at the officer.

Osman was transported to a nearby medical facility, but was later declared deceased as a result of the officer involved shooting. The situation is still under investigation.
