On March 25, 2021, a security guard at a Home Depot in Chicago, IL was shot in the head by Travon Chadwell after Chadwell was caught shoplifting.

Momentarily after Chadwell shot the security guard, Kevin Lockett, Chadwell immediately fled the scene in an attempt to avoid Police. Shortly after leaving, the scene, Officers caught up to Chadwell where a shootout then took place in a residential back yard.

The first body cam footage shows a responding Officer catching up to Chadwell and asking him "What's up" in reference to the Home Depot incident. Chadwell responds by shooting the Officer in the shoulder and continues to flee.

Maneuvering through tight alley ways, Officers eventually locate and catch up to Chadwell for a second time, this time cornering him in a back yard.

With Chadwell now trapped in a small backyard, Officers begin maneuvering through adjacent yards to get a better vantage. When the body camera changes, an Officer can be seen looking over the fence and taking multiple shots.

As he calls out "I got him, I got him", other Officer's begin approaching the suspect and immediately detain him.

Chadwell was treated on the scene and later transported to a local medical facility where he succumbed to his wounds.

The mother of the 18-year-old told reporters, "I just want the world to know he wasn't no bad person at all."

The security guard that was shot in the head by Chadwell miraculously survived the gunshot wound and is currently progressing in a rehab hospital.
