Incredible combat footage, which is actually a Part 2 of a previous video we recently posted, shows a Russian infantry platoon attempting to assault a Ukrainian trench position in a T-shaped woodline. Two of the Russian troops can be seen coming extremely close to the trench and one is shot down by a Ukrainian defender. The other Russian soldier throws a frag grenade into the hole with an unknown result.

The Ukrainian troops call in "danger close" artillery onto their own positions and hunker down. Meanwhile, a pair of Ukrainian armored vehicles; one heavy tank and one infantry fighting vehicle, rapidly approach to perform a counter attack. The Russian troops attempt to break contact but are pinned down as the drone operator talks the IFV's chain gun fire onto their location. The Ukrainian tank then rapidly assaults through the woodline and runs the Russian troops down, killing several.

The incident reportedly took place between Soledar and Siversk. The Ukrainian unit was the K-2 group of the 54th Mechanize Brigade.

While this may look like a crude and conventional battle from the days of yore, it is the Ukrainians use of technology that gave them the upper hand and allowed them to push the Russians back. The Part 1 of this incident, which is linked above, shows several members of the Russian platoon killed by extremely accurate M982 Excalibur precision guided artillery fire before they can reach the Ukrainian trench. The drones provided realtime information on Russian positions which allowed additional artillery and armored vehicles to move in for the kill without having to guess where to go or where to shoot. This video, and others like it, will be watched and studied for many years to come at war colleges across the globe.
