On August 28, 2022, officers from the Houston Police Department responded to a 9-1-1 call about shots being fired on Dunlap Street. Shortly after the arrival of the officers, the suspect was found armed with a shotgun.

The suspect, later identified as Roy Cravin Jr, refused to comply with the Officer's commands to put the weapon down. Instead, he chose to aim the shotgun at the officer, prompting the officer to discharge his duty weapon to protect his own life.

Responding officers quickly moved to Cravin, clearing him of the shotgun he aimed at the officer and began providing him with life-saving aid. He would later be declared dead at the scene. At the residence where Cravin was found, two victims were found deceased as a result of Cravin's gunfire, and another 4 additional victims were found as well. All four victims would be transported to a local medical facility where one would later succumb to their injuries.
