Security camera footage and body worn camera footage released by the Houston Police Department captures the moment 38-year-old Sergeant M. Valle is ambushed while investigating a possible burglary in progress. The officer, who is shot multiple times by 23-year-old Edwin Villegas, fights through the ambush and exits the vehicle engaging the threat directly.

Other officers arrived on the scene just seconds after the shooting and provided life-saving aid to Valle while other officers continue to pursue Villegas, who was found deceased just around the corner of the building where the shooting took place.

Valle was transported to a nearby medical facility in stable condition.
