(NSFW) Former Police Officer And Teenager Exchange Gunfire, Leaving One Dead

Published Nov. 27, 2021

Extremely controversial footage captured by a Ring doorbell recently surfaced, regarding a shootout on November 25th, 2021, between a former police officer and a 17-year-old male subject, which resulted in the teenager being fatally wounded.

The shooting occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m. in the 900 block of S. Addison Way, near the intersection of South Gun Club Rd. and E. Belleview Ave, Aurora, Colorado. As indicated in the footage, a group of teenagers and the former officer are observed arguing. Although the video rendering is difficult to see, reports have indicated that the teenager drew a firearm as the former officer exited his truck.

During the brief confrontation, the teenager began firing his weapon as the man rounded the rear end of his vehicle. In response, the former officer drew his weapon, returned fire, and fatally struck the teenager. After the shooting, a 9-1-1 caller indicated two male subjects engaged in a shootout and that both parties were wounded. The former officer and the teenager were later transported to an area hospital.

The former officer, whose identity has not been released, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and the teenager succumbed to his gunshot wounds and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

After speaking with witnesses, investigators believe the shooting resulted from an argument between the 36-year-old man and a group of teenagers who may have been driving carelessly through the neighborhood at the time. Detectives with the department’s Major Crimes Unit are working to determine who is to blame for instigating the shooting, as well as the circumstances leading up to the exchange of gunfire.

No arrests have been made at this time.
