(NSFW) Bicyclist Flees Traffic Stop, Then Draws Gun On Cops

A critical incident recently released by the San Antonio Police Department, shows the moments two officers engaged and neutralized an armed suspect after he started a physical altercation with one officer.

On September 19th, 2021, two officers working directed patrol in the area of Pima and Palo Alto Road (the area of a known narcotics house), encountered an adult male on a bike heading in the direction of the narcotics house. Given the totality of the circumstances, officers initiated a traffic stop. The bicyclist, identified as Rodolfo Gonzales, appeared to stop at first, but fled. Officers pursued Gonzales before cutting him off in the 200 block of Pima.

Officers attempted to get Gonzales off his bike when he reached for a firearm in his waistband. Officers attempted to wrestle the gun away, but Gonzales refused to let go. In response, the officers opened fire, fearing the suspect would shoot them.

Both officers began rendering on-site medical aid, however Gonzales succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Gonzales’ firearm was recovered and booked as evidence.
