Massive Truck Bomb Targets Turkish-backed Militia Checkpoint In Syria

Security cameras captured a truck bomb exploding at a pro-Turkish militia checkpoint near the northern Syrian city of al Bab on Jan. 31, 2021. Footage shows the weaponized vehicle driving into the area earlier in the day, and a photograph at the end of the video shows the aftermath. Six Turkish-backed militants were reportedly killed in the blast.

The region has seen an increased prevalence of bombings in recent weeks. No group has taken credit for the blast shown in the video. Turkey was quick to blame Kurdish factions, but the area is host to several competing groups being facilitated by Turkey, Russia, and the US.
