M1A1 Tears Up Insurgent Positions in Fallujah

Footage that is now almost 20-years-old is recorded from the top of an M1A1 Abrams main battle tank conducting combat operations in support of infantry troops in Fallujah.

Yeah, you read that right. This video is almost 20-years-old now. The battle for Fallujah happened in 2004, it is now almost 2022. That means it's been 18 years since the Marines and Soldiers who participated in Operation Phantom Fury made history in the largest urban battle since Hue City. Kids born during Operation Phantom Fury today are now old enough to buy cigarettes, but for some of us, these memories feel like they just happened yesterday. We're getting old ladies and gentleman.

This also might be some of the first tank-mounted action footage ever recorded as well. Clearly it wasn't recorded on a GoPro due to the timing, but it's awesome to see this perspective used on footage from what is now apparently a long time ago. As combat footage evolves with the dawn of new camera systems, it's crazy to think how much differently we and our children will be able to view history.
