LPR Conscripts Surrender to Ukrainian Forces

Conscripted Soldiers from the Luhansk People's Republic attempting to retreat from Ukrainian forces find themselves surrendering at gunpoint when they blindly run out of a tree line into an open road.

The Ukrainian military has released footage of conscripted troops from the LPR surrendering to an unnamed Ukrainian unit. While the location and date of the footage was not released, what we do know from the Ukrainian social media post is that these conscripts had broken under a Ukrainian assault and were in full retreat at the time of their surrender.

For those of you who are totally uninitiated and who don't know what conscript means, it's forced military service. These guys were essentially drafted into the LPR to serve with the LPR's combat units in forward positions. The problem with conscripted troops is that they often don't have the same will to fight as volunteer forces that believe in the mission or operations they are conducting. You can apply the same training and equipment to a conscripted force, and it generally still will not be as combat effective as an all volunteer unit.

While any professional Soldier in this same situation who was a volunteer would most likely also find themselves surrendering, it's unlikely that a professional volunteer Soldier would have immediately broken under the same assault that pushed these guys into full retreat.
