Kurds in Erbil Shoot At Drones En Route To Israel

This footage purportedly shows Kurdish civilians in Iraq attempting to shoot down some of the Iranian drones launched against Israel on 13 April 2024.

While it has thus far not been officially confirmed, these Kurds reportedly shot down an Iranian Shahed drone and are shown here trying to completely destroy it. This is actually a more impressive feat than it may seem; while higher-tech defenses against missiles and drones are varied and effective, it’s not exactly easy to do with small arms. Furthermore, considering a total of only seven drones and missiles were reported to make it through, bagging one severely damaged Iran’s success rate (2.1 percent). It’s also important to note that attempting to thwart the drone attack did not benefit the Kurds in Iraq in any way, beyond sticking it to Iran just because they could. Can’t help but like it when the underdog gets their licks in.
