The Irish Army Ranger Wing, also known as Sciathán Fianóglach an Airm, operates as a conventional force as well as fulfilling asymmetrical anti terror type warfare roles.

Most recently, a small contingent of Irish Army Rangers deployed to Mali as part of the UN peacekeeping force, although the details of their mission aren't clear.
