Iran Seizes Portuguese Merchant Ship Near Strait Of Hormuz

This video, taken by a crew member of the MSC Aries, shows Iranian military personnel fast-roping from a helicopter in order to seize the ship on 13 April, 2024.

Amid the skyrocketing tensions between Iran and Israel, the MSC Aries was raided by Iranian forces in response to Israel's recent attack on the Iranian consulate. The ship was seized on the grounds that it is titled under Gortal Shipping, which is partially owned by Israeli businessman Eyal Offer. Despite this, the ship is registered out of Portugal, and crewed by 20 Filipinos.

The helicopter shown appears to be an Mi-17 (NATO Identifier: HIP), of which Iran is one of many users.
