Helmet Cam: Russians Dismount During Ukrainian Ambush

Russian infantry moving with an armored column begin to dismount as Ukrainian forces open fire on their position. This is a rare perspective from the Russian military so far.

So far, the footage coming out of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine has been very one-sided. For the most part, an overwhelming majority of the legitimate footage has been released by Ukrainian Soldiers through personal channels in places like TikTok, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube. This is one of the first times we've seen footage released from the Russian side of the conflict that doesn't look like it's been filtered through half a dozen public affairs officers before it was released.

It's interesting to note also that this is the first time we've seen Russian troops in action that are equipped with more modern weapon systems. A lot of the Russians we have seen up to this point have been using bone stock Kalashnikov style rifles, whereas in this footage we're seeing a number of troops with uniform optics on their rifles, and at one point towards the beginning we even see what appears to be a modern long-gun you would expect to see with an American sniper team. These guys also appear to be better trained than Russian troops we have seen in previous engagements, as they're moving with a purpose and appear motivated.
