Helmet Cam: Russian BTR-80 Crew Ambushed After Landmine Detonation

Published 1 month ago

Footage released through OSINT sources on Twitter shows the helmet camera POV of a Russian Soldier in an ambush just seconds after the BTR-80 he's in hits a landmine.

For the purpose of context, this is what we know. We know these are Russian infantry troops. We know they're riding in what appears to be a BTR-80. We know that the footage was recorded near Kharkiv. We know that the Russians were ambushed by Ukrainian forces shortly after the detonation of the landmine on their vehicle.

From a ground-warfare perspective, these guys seem to be all the way up shit's creek without a paddle. The Russian troops are entirely on their own and completely in the open unless there's more to the situation that we aren't seeing from the Russian Soldier's perspective. In this war, these guys are essentially looking at a death sentence. Their only piece of cover is their destroyed vehicle, they have casualties with them, and absolutely nothing to keep the Mavic drones from dropping 40mm munitions directly on top of them.

The end state of this video is unknown at this time. It's unclear if the Russians were able to get assistance from an adjacent unit or if they were killed or captured by Ukrainian forces.
