Historical footage filmed in Kosovo in 1999 shows German troops lighting up a civilian-style vehicle occupied by armed Serb fighters. Both Serb fighters died and one German troop was wounded by hostile fire. The shootout became known as the Prizren Incident.

The Germans were part of the KFOR coalition and had just arrived in Prizren from Macedonia to protect displaced ethnic Albanians as they were returning to their homes. The Serb militants were stragglers of the Yugoslav Army and attempted to carry out a driveby shooting on nearby civilians, to which the German responded with overwhelming firepower. A search of the vehicle discovered AK-47s and hand grenades.
