Video shows a volunteer fighter of the Ukrainian foreign legion dropping a fragmentation hand grenade into a crippled Russian BMP-2. The Russian fighting vehicle had just been immobilized in close quarters fighting and was still running at the time of the incident.

Ukraine's forces have captured significant amounts of Russian combat vehicles to bolster their own firepower, but it isn't always feasible to recover the equipment. In contested areas it may be better to just destroy the equipment entirely to ensure that it doesn't fall back into enemy hands to be used again.
