Russian defense industry test footage shows a successful air-to-ground strike carried out by a Kronshtadt Orion unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) against a decommissioned Aero L-39 Albatros jet.


The Orion drone was initially developed for reconnaissance purposes, but has since been upgraded with electronic warfare technology and strike capabilities. The Orion's maximum performance stats are as follows: Altitude 2,624 ft, Flight Duration 24 hours, Speed 124.3 mph, Payload 440 lb.


The Aero L-39 Albatros was developed in Czechoslovakia in the 1960s. It is primarily used by the US and Russia as a trainer aircraft for aspiring fighter jet pilots. However, several countries have and still use it as an air to ground light attack jet or as a tactical reconnaissance aircraft.
