DPR Mortars Target American Made TPQ-50

The video shows a DPR mortar attack on an American-made TPQ-50.

Posted on Twitter in September of 2022, it shows an American-made and supplied TPQ-50 counter-fire battery system became the target of a DPR mortar attack. It appears in the video that the Q-50 is in its Tripod configuration. It does not appear the mortars could make any direct hits on the radar system, but shrapnel could have knocked the system out.

The Q-50 is a 360-degree coverage counter fire radar system with an effective range of 10km but can find the Point of origin (POO) out of its range as long as the target enters its search area. The Q-50 is one of the newest American counter-fire radar systems. It also has some of the most interesting features: it can be operated far from its emplaced location, ability to be plugged into a vehicle, generator, or the power grid for operations. The system is also modular, so if a piece is damaged, it can be quickly replaced and returned to service.
