Danish Navy Defends Frigate From Four Drones

This footage from the Danish Navy shows a longer portion of an incident which occurred during a recent deployment near Yemen. Here, we see the crew of the frigate Iver Huitfeldt defending it from four Houthi drone attacks.

New reports, along with this additional footage, have come in regarding this incident, which we brought to you in April 2024. It appears that problems with the ship's phased array radar and combat management system kept the Iver Huitfeldt from firing on the incoming drones for approximately half an hour. The crew also reported malfunctions with the ammunition for the Iver Huitfeldt's 76-millimeter guns. Furthermore, this was the first combat operation for many of the crew. To sum it all up, therefore: we have new crewmen, unable to fire on threats from a distance, only to find that their ammo was failing up close. It's not a particularly large stretch of deduction to figure out why the crew looks so relieved by their eventual success. Talk about high-stakes, high-stress.
