Footage from Operation Enduring Freedom, the US war in Afghanistan, shows a squad of Marines observing controlled detonations form what turns out to be an unsafe distance.

On the third blast, piece of debris, possible steel shrapnel or a rock, comes ripping through the formation and strikes one of the service members. The team leader calls for the corpsman (Navy medic) to treat the wounded man, but as it turns out, the wounded man was the corpsman. Fortunately the corpsman wasn't significantly wounded and recovered from his injuries.
