Colombian Officers Lit On Fire During Protests

As the protests continue to reek havoc in Colombia, Officers and Protestors violence is continually growing. Reports from May 4, 2021 have stated the death count is at 18 civilians and 1 Officer killed. This is not to include the hundreds of others that have been injured or are currently hospitalized due to the gruesome chaos.


According to national police, 540 Officers have been injured during the protests and this number continues to rise every day. This chaos all began after President Ivan Duque Marquez's tax overhaul was publicized which was to assist in the COVID-19 economic recovery plan.


Many people have criticized this relief plan due to its major impact and strain on the working and middle classes. As a result, over 17,000 citizens have taken to the streets in protest against the Presidents decision to raise taxes nearly 20%.
